Flowering Tea

As cheesy as it sounds, I find so much satisfaction in watching something grow or develop, like the story of the ugly duckling. This is one of the reasons why I have a new found fascination with flowering tea. I absolutely love the anticipation of placing the closed flower into my mug and watching it blossom.

For Christmas, I was given a tin of flowering tea by the Canton Tea Co. as a present from my boyfriend. I was so excited, as I am obsessed with tea, but have only ever tried the flowering variety at a restaurant before. The tin came with a selection of 3 different types, but the one pictured is ‘Red Sunset’ flowering tea.

The tea tastes so fragrant, sweet and light. It contains green tea which gives you energy as well as an abudance of health benefits such as the reduction of disease (such as Diabetes and Parkinsons) and improves your immunity. I’m not a big fan of the strong green tea flavour, so I absolutely love the fact that it is a softer flavour, masked by the delicacy of honey-like flowers.

As well as the drinking of the tea, the fun part has to be watching the flower bloom inside your mug. All you have to do is pour almost boiled water into your mug and leave the flower to work its magic for 2-3 minutes. For days that you fancy a treat, or want to try something other than your normal English breakfast tea, I would highly recommend giving flowering tea a go!

  1. I recently tried flowering tea for the first time! My dad brought some back from Vietnam for me. It is super pretty to watch, and the tea is great too! I definitely have a tea obsession, so I’m tempted to buy some more!

    1. Awww shucks 😦 I have really enjoyed the ones I’ve tried, there are probably some yucky ones I am yet to encounter, so thanks for the heads up 🙂 xx

  2. That’s so cool! Thanks for sharing. Think I need to work through some of my other tea purchases before I buy any of this though. I think people regret asking for a cup of tea at my house. Their request is always followed by me asking what type of tea they would like and then I reel off a super long list of tea varieties. Then they usually only end up having builders tea anyway. Ha, ha!

  3. I keep wanting to try one of these blooming/ flowering tea’s, I’m obsessed with tea too 😛 But I’ve been trying to drink most of my tea reserve up- just to make room for some new types I’d love to get. It looks so lovely.
