Sheer lips are a make-up trend that have taken over this Spring. I for one, love sheer lipsticks as they are so easy to throw on everyday. I thought I would take you guys through five lip products that I have been loving (with the exception of the YSL one, which I have just had my eye very keenly on for a while now).
First, I thought I would discuss Soap and Glory’s Sexy Motherpucker Gloss Sticks, which are insanely amazing. They don’t give you that stingy plumping effect that their other products give, and instead glide over the lips smoothly. I really love the selection of colours as they are really wearable and feel nourishing on the lips. To check out me wearing the shade Nudist, have a look at my 30 day lip challenge here.
Next up are a product that I initially was a bit under-whelmed with because I expected them to be far more pigmented. Now though, I am so glad I have these in my collection as they are PERFECT for Spring. I often want to wear a bright red lip out, and then end up taking it off because I’m nervous that I’ll be stared at. When you’re wearing a sheer red lip, it looks fab without drawing too much attention. Chunky Cherry by Clinique is my absolute go to sheer red lipstick. I’m gonna gloss over the next choice as I have literally talked about these Revlon Lip Butters to absolute death. They are a much loved and hyped product, and for a very good reason. I am in love with the buttery glossy formula and I really want to buy all of the colours! The ones I would recommend are Candy Apple, Peach Parfait and Berry Smoothie.
The Body Shop’s Colour Crush lipsticks are another great product for getting a pop of colour onto your lips without having to be too daring. The texture of them is super silky and full of moisture, which prevents your lips from drying. My only negative for these lipsticks, is that they cost £10, which seems a bit steep to me for a lower-end lipstick (especially one that does not have a big colour pay off). For those of you looking for a great quality sheer lipstick though, I would definitely recommend these.
Finally, for those of you wanting to treat yourself to some absolute luxury (and I am oh-so tempted to buy one of these myself), there has been a lot of hype surrounding the YSL Sheer Candy Lipsticks. The packaging is what draws me the most to the product, shallow yes, but they look absolutely stunning. The formula has been recommended and the colours look stunning on pictures of swatches I have seen. Unfortunately, as I’m a student who is consciously trying to spend less, I don’t think I can justify spending £25 on a lipstick, even though they look incredible.
