December is finally upon us, and what better way to kick off the festivities than with a Christmas-themed tag! I stumbled across the questions on Jen’s blog, which is one of my faves, so I thought I’d give it a go!
1) What is your favourite Christmas movie?
I don’t know if I’ve ever announced this on my blog before, but I’m really not a film kind of person. For me, Christmas is more about snuggling by the fire with a cup of tea in hand ready to take on whatever rubbishy tv is on at the time. If I had to choose my favourite festive film though, it’d have to be Elf. No matter how many times you’ve seen it it’s still hilarious. I’m also a big fan of Bridget Jones, there’s nothing not to like in running through the snow to meet your Mr Darcy in a loud Christmas jumper.
2) Do you open your presents on Christmas eve or Christmas morning?
I wasn’t actually aware that opening presents on Christmas eve was a thing! We always do ours on Christmas day itself (though if we have our family xmas early, I get some of my presents then too).
3) Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
I remember hassling my parents to get me a car from the age of 16 – even though I knew that this wasn’t actually going to happen. On the Christmas before my 17th birthday I opened my ‘present’ to discover that it was empty. My mum wet herself laughing and told me she’d farted in a box (mature parenting at its best). After my confusion subsided, I was presented with another box with a car key in, which I obviously thought was a joke. When I arrived outside I saw a shiny Vauxhall Corsa and I was absolutely over the moon. (Before you all judge me for being spoilt, it was a 7 year old car that my dad didn’t need any more – but I was over the moon, naming my car ‘Enrique’).
4) Favourite festive food?
Mulled wine isn’t food but if it was that would definitely be my answer. I’m a huge fan of turkey and cranberry sandwiches too.
5) Favourite Christmas gift?
Thoughtful Christmas presents are always better than expensive ones in my opinion. A great one that springs to mind is a ‘crazy rat lady’ mug my housemate got me. Every time I use it I can’t help but smile!
6) Favourite Christmas scent?
I’m not really into sweet-smelling fragrances, especially during the Winter. I’d rather go for a spiced-scent like gingerbread, cinnamon or cloves. I’m a big fan of the smell of pine needles as well, there’s nothing better than the smell of real Christmas tree during the festive season.
7) Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
Our family used to have loads of Christmas Eve traditions when we were younger. My sister and I would shout out of the window to Santa what presents we wanted and listen out for his sleigh-bells. I used to always love leaving a glass of wine and a mince pie out for Santa and some carrots for his reindeers too.
8) What tops your tree?
We always put a big gold star at the top of our tree. It’s not really something I ever think about, or a really prominent part of our family Christmas.
9) As a kid what was one of the crazy things you always asked for but never received?
My sister and I have wanted a pet from the youngest age – and to be perfectly honest I’d still beg my parents for one at the age of 20. As the saying goes though, a dog is for life and not just for Christmas, so I’m gonna have to wait until I’m settled later in life before I get one.
10) What’s the best thing about Christmas for you?
I’m going to be a bit soppy in my response here when I say that FAMILY is the most important thing for me at Christmas time. There’s nothing better than spending time with the ones you love, celebrating and being thankful for how lucky you are.
I hope you guys liked this TAG and it helped to get you into the Christmassy spirit! If you want to complete the questions, then feel free to say I tagged you & comment your link down below, because I’d love to read them.
I’d like to TAG a few of my faves too though:
